Hello, I’m Grace
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat residing in Springfield, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a whole new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t in the long-range plan. As is common with expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
Those initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and lots of hands-on learning. But gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Stone River Mariner
Most online guidance amounted to either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — practical guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Real-world experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when something truly changes
This site IS NOT:
- A tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in United States goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Grace
